Marathon County Tavern League Safe Ride & Good Samaritan Programs Rules (Effective 12-1-2022)
1. Must be a MCTL member in good standing and get 50 FREE vouchers per month.
2. To receive FREE Vouchers the establishment must come to any MCTL member meeting,
banquet, or Board of Director meeting.
3. The Patron MUST have a vehicle at the establishment parking lot. The purpose of Safe
Ride Home is to keep drunk drivers off the road and not provide a free cab at the
expense of the program.
4. Rides must be to a private residence or public lodging. No BAR HOPPING or restaurant
stops!
5. Programs do not provide a return trip the next day to pick up their vehicle. (See the
good Samaritan feature)
6. Vouchers must be filled out completely and correctly by the bartender/manager.
Complete Bar Name / Complete Address / Complete Formal Name (no
nicknames)
7. No more than (4) Safe Rides per month/per patron. First time you go over 4 rides you
will go on probation with a written warning. The second offense you cannot use any
Safe Rides for 30 days. The third offense you cannot use any Safe Rides for 60 days.
8. The cab driver has the right to refuse service to a patron whom they feel will
compromise the completion of the Safe Ride.

PROGRAMS!!!
HOW THE MCTL SAFE RIDE PROGRAM WORKS
1. Bartender/Manager will fill out the voucher with the Establishment Name, Drop Off
Address and Name of Bartender/Manager calling for Safe Ride. Confirm with cab
company it is a Safe Ride Home Ride.
2. The Safe Ride Home Program is good within Marathon County.
3. The bartender/Manager will call a cab at bottom of voucher. Make sure the patron is
willing to take ride.
4. Give completed voucher to cab driver. The yellow copy is kept at the establishment.
Give the other two copies to the cab driver.
5. The driver must complete date and time on the voucher.
6. MCTL reimburses the cab companies monthly for their services.
NEW IN 2023 THE GOOD SAMARITIAN PROGRAM AND HOW IT WORKS
To Help Provide Safe Rides in or out of the Cab Service Area in Marathon County.
1. Establishment pays the Good Samaritan Driver $20 for mile 0-10 miles or $30 for over
10 miles.
2. Establishment should keep the white copy in their till and turn it into the safe ride home
coordinator
3. Establishment get reimbursed 100% by bringing the voucher to any MCTL banquet or
meeting.
4. Establishments provide patrons willing to give rides, get their phone numbers and line
up drivers.
DRIVERS:
1. Must be 21 years old or older
2. Must have a current valid driver’s license
3. The driver MUST not have consumed any alcohol.
4. Must use their vehicle. Their vehicle must be insured.
5. If two non-drinking good Samaritans want to take the patron and their car home,
they can do so by using two forms. In this case each driver will get $20
PATRONS:
1. Must have a vehicle in the establishment parking lot.
2. Patron responsible for tipping drivers
3. Patron is responsible for any damage or cleanup of driver’s vehicle.
